If you’ve been on Pinterest or Etsy any time in say the last year you are bound to have noticed that a little trend is emerging. And that is the introduction of bridal party robes. Wedding robes aren’t just a practical way of protecting clothes, hair and make-up when you and your bridal party are getting ready for the big day – they can look super cute in photos as well as being a great memento/thank you gift for your closest friends and family.
There are so many different options for bridal party robes such as floral robes, monogrammed robes, lace robes or even satin robes. Think about the wedding morning photos, your color scheme and what fits in best with the theme of your wedding overall. We always recommend a more classic, subtle design that your bridal party will want to wear after the wedding day but of course, the choice is yours.
Also think about the skin tones and hair color of your bridesmaids, the season and how the robe will actually look in the photographs. Navy robes are most popular in winter and the blush pink robes for summer weddings.
Other things to consider when deciding on bridesmaid robes - Will they all have the same color robe or will you alternate? You may wish to choose one color for the maid of honor, mother of the bride etc. and a different one for the bridesmaids. Or have all the bridesmaid in the same robe and family members for example mothers of the bride and groom in a different robe. If your Flowersgirls are getting ready with you, you may also want to have matching robes for them.
We all come in different shapes and sizes, and as a wedding day – particularly the getting ready part – is usually a very busy day, between hair stylists, make up artists, photgrpahers etc. Having robes that are comfortable and flattering can make all the difference for your bridesmaids. For example, cotton robes are super soft, comfy and easy to wear.
Depending on what you’ve arranged with your wedding day crew, you may be paying for the robes as a gift to your bridal party. If this is the case, obviously consider your budget as if you have a large bridal party, it all adds up.
Our robes ship within 2 business days, and we use a next day courier when possible but it’s always best to leave yourself a little cushion should there be any unexpected shipping delays or you need to exchange.
There is nothing that says your bridesmaid robeshave to match your wedding day colours. Usually the bride will wear white and have her bridesmaid in a coloured robe. However we have seen some gorgeous ladies choosing a colour for themselves and having their bridal party dressed in white robes, or choosing blush pink for themselves instead. There are no rules when it comes to getting ready in the morning.
It’s traditional for brides to give gifts to their bridesmaids at some point leading up to the wedding day (usually the morning of). And the most popular bridesmaid gifts are undoubtedly robes. Some brides even use robes as part of a bridesmaid proposal. Sometimes robes are gifted to the bride by her bridal party or family members. In the USA sometimes bridesmaid buy their own robe, however this is not common in the UK and Ireland.
Traditionally they are given the night before or the morning of the wedding to the bridal party. Sometimes they are given in advance if it is a destination wedding or the bridal party won't arrive until the morning of the wedding. Some brides include them in bridesmaid proposal boxes.
