According to the Weddingsonline 2017 survey, 9 out of 10 couples honeymoon abroad with 59% waiting a few months after the wedding before they head off on their honeymoon.
Hence the rise of the Mini-moon or minimoon!! Almost half of couples enjoy a mini-moon in Ireland directly after their wedding. I'm sure I've told you all many times now, but we got married in Newry Cathedral and had a tiny reception (a total of 7) in Newforge House in Armagh. If anyone is looking for a romantic break in Northern Ireland I couldn't recommend it enough. The rooms are stylish old world charm, but with all the modern amenities you'd expect in 2018. The real charm of Newforge though, the. food. oh em gee! The food was to die for, I can still taste the Lemon posset (which I had never heard of!) nearly two years later. If your looking for something a bit different and romantic give this place a try.
The night after (bearing in mind we were getting married a month later with all our friends & family) in Marbella. We headed down to the K-Club in Kildare. Same old world charm, totally different experience. We let them know at check in that we had gotten married and within 15 minutes of arriving they had sent a couple of glasses of champagne to the room. I like that kind of service! We only stayed one night but it was enough to get a good feel of the place and the beautiful grounds.
We are heading on a mini break next week to Cavan, we are going to McNean House Hotel and Farnam Estate. You can follow along on insta stories and snapchat (@lovelylittlelab) if you want! I have a feeling like these could be the ideal minimoon spots.
Where are your recommendations for Minimoons!
